The appearance of pronounced hair in certain areas of the body can be annoying or aesthetically unflattering.
The use of laser devices with intense pulsed light achieves the reduction or complete disappearance of hair in the treated areas. Through this technique it is possible to have a specific impact on the pigment of the hair and cause it to disappear. It should be noted that the safety and effectiveness of laser hair removal are determined by the combination of three factors: the type of laser device to be used, the technique and training of the professional, and the characteristics of the patient’s skin. An examination and a medical history of the patient is essential to determine what type of device will be used and how the sessions should be scheduled to be carried out comfortably and safely.
The number of treatment sessions to be delivered depends on the patient’s hair and skin type, as well as the area to be treated. Laser hair removal is more effective and requires fewer sessions on light skin types with dark hair, as the laser light beam selectively impacts the hair follicle. It is generally accepted that the usual number of sessions to remove facial hair is 6 to 10, and for body hair 3 to 5, although there are variations depending on the natural characteristics of the patient’s skin.
By using intense pulsed light, it is possible to proceed to a comfortable and safe hair removal thanks to the self-cooled sapphire head, fast due to its wide field treated and effective due to its technical characteristics.
The intense pulsed light device, used in Dermatology Barcelona, is one of the first lasers approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration, USA) for aesthetic use due to its quality and safety profile. See more details here.
